Mounting speakers to your bike just got easy

Mounting Boombotix speakers to a bike has been a dream for us since we started our company.  It takes about nine months to give birth to a child.  After nine months of design/manufacturing, our engineers have given birth to a welcome addition to the Boombot family.  During the birth of the Bike Handlebar Mount Kit, we suffered a number of complications.  After a serious C-section, the operation was completed and the end result is a purpose built piece of hardware that is going to amplify your bike riding experience.

Moto Actv makes a SWEET combo with the BB2 Speakers

One of our friends known as “Coolass” Mike Bowers, showed us this pretty sweet setup that he’s been rocking for his rides.  The Moto Actv is an MP3/Smartwatch that can wirelessly synch up with your BB2 portable speaker.  This gizmo is great for riding when you don’t want to reach into your pocket just to change the track.

The Actv has a number of fitness tracking features as well.  Haven’t used it ourselves, but its likely very similar to the iPod nano’s Nike+ interface with the pedometer.  One HUGE leap the Actv has over the nano is a complete GPS interface that can actually track your routes.  Nothing your smartphone can’t do, but hey, you can probably just leave your heavy phone on the dresser.  The battery life actually looks impressive with a claimed 20 HOUR PLAYBACK.  If that’s in Bluetooth mode, then WOW… want.

What is this thing lacking?  Waterproofing.  The product claims “water resistance,” but we’ll have to see what that means.  Sure isn’t going in the hot tub with me.  Any real fitness watch should take moisture into consideration (especially when you’re looking at a glorified MP3 player).

The Moto Actv also has phone interfacing capabilities which unfortunately will not work on the current BB2 as there is no built-on microphone…yet.  Wink wink.  You can pick up the Moto Actv and a number of accessories directly from their online store with two different models (and 8GB and 16GB).  They retail for $249 and $299.

Coolass Mike also leads a great non-profit based in Los Angeles called 1000Bikes.org .  The 1000 Bikes Foundation is a not-for-profit organization which is dedicated to putting a bike in the hands of 1000 foster youth and their families in communities across the United States.
